There is a recently announced Florida HVAC $1,500 rebate.
As of August 30, 2010 until December 30, 2010 (OR until the $15 million runs out which will be VERY quick – few expect it to last beyond October), you could get up to $3,000 for installing a new HVAC system. The new $1,500 rebate from the "Florida Energy Star Residential HVAC Rebate Program" (http://www.rebates.com/floridahvac/) is in addition to the already offered $1,500 federal tax credit when existing primary household homeowners replace their old heating and cooling system with a properly-sized energy efficient system and ensure that your duct system has minimal leakage.
This is a performance-based rebate which means it requires two tests after the HVAC installation and some documentation to meet its criteria. The two tests are: "Manual J" calculations and "CFM25 Air Distribution System Leakage" (aka "duct blaster" test) which required trained professionals, like a Florida Class 1 energy rater.
